Welcome to Eden’s Expeditions! My name is Eden Shamy, and this is a travel blog where I detail my travels. Often full of food, fun, and adventure, I hope everyone can find something worthwhile in my writing.
Get to Know Me
I’m a 14 year old girl, and I’ve just started my first year of high school. I have two brothers by the names of Noah and Jonah. My family and relatives often get their names mixed up. For the most part, I’ve grown up in Oregon and traveled to various places in the Pacific Northwest. One can often find me writing or reading in my bedroom. Of course, I cannot say the same for the times I am up in an airplane or lounging on the beach.
My family and I have had some crazy adventures together, taking practically all modes of transportation for the means of new experience. The first time I ever rode a train was on our trip to Europe that occurred the summer after my third grade year. I’m sure you can tell from this old, low quality picture that my brother’s and I are exhausted, but that didn’t stop us from playing Go Fish! for hours on end. It was the only card game that we understood how to play, and it somehow entertained us throughout the entirety of the trip.
You can also see me hugging a unicorn pillow pet. That’s Mr. Hinkley, and he’s a stuffed animal that travels everywhere with us. It used to be because I’d worry about him getting lonely at home, but these days it’s more of a tradition to bring him along. No matter how raggedy he may get, he’ll be with me as long as we’re traveling some place new. Mr. Hinkley often gets envious looks from young children, and compliments from slightly confused adults. I do look a little younger than my age, but I apparently don’t look young enough to be carrying around a rainbow unicorn wherever I go.
Some of my favorite travel activities are visiting theme parks. I especially enjoy riding roller coasters, no matter how intimidating. I also really enjoy trying new foods, and I hope to always be someone willing to be adventurous. On the other hand, I really love to lay myself out on the sand whenever I get the chance. Living in Oregon can make you very grateful to get even an ounce of sunlight because it rains almost every day, except in the summer. Despite the rain, a day in Portland is not to be taken for granted. I’ve grown to love the diversity in food and style.
Born in Idaho, I first traveled outside of the country when I was just one month old. Since then, I’ve been traveling all over. I’ve been to thirteen different countries, other than the one I live in. This list includes Jamaica, Italy, Thailand, and so many more. I am excited to add many more to that list as time flies past and my knowledge and experience with travel grows.
